My Great BIG Summer Vacation

Happy 4th of July!
Right before the 4th of July, my family and I left for our great big, 2-week long summer vacation!  First we went to South Carolina to Mommy's Aunt Julie's lake house.  We drove a long way to get there, and except for not going to sleep, I was pretty good in the car!  Mommy's whole family was there, too: Nana & Papa, Aunt Hilary & Uncle Jake, Aunt Merf & Uncle Chris, and all of Mommy's aunts and uncles and cousins, lots and lots of people!  I was the only little kid, but I didn't mind!  I liked getting all of the attention.  One of my favorite things to do was stand on the sun porch and yell "hi everybody!" to everyone down on the patio below.  If they didn't answer me, I would just keep on saying it!

We got there the day before the 4th and spent the holiday riding on the boat and playing on the patio.  I had to wear a life jacket on the boat which made it hard to move around, but I LOVED watching the water and the other boats!  I even got to watch Aunt Merf and Uncle Chris jump off a cliff!

On the patio at the house, I had my very own pool!  Uncle Jake and Uncle Chris taught me how to splash, and I had lots of fun splashing everyone and playing with my new pool and pool toys.  I was having way too much fun to take a nap, so later I fell asleep before dinner and missed the fireworks.  Oh well, maybe next year!  The next day was Saturday, and we rode the boat again and played on the patio some more.  Sunday we hit the road for the next part of our adventure!

On Sunday, we left the lake and Mommy's family and drove to Savannah to go to the beach with Daddy's family.  It was a much shorter car trip this time, and watched Elmo's World and Ariel on the iPad almost the whole way.  When we got there, it was sort of rainy and windy, so we stayed at the beach house and played until bed time.  After that it was really nice every day, so we spent lots of time at the beach!  I was a little bit scared of the ocean, or the "big water" as I liked to call it, but I loved playing in the sand.  Daddy and Daideo dug a little pool for me every day and lined it with a shower curtain.  Sean liked playing in the pool, too!  But not as much as the big water, he LOVED that!  Maybe when I get bigger, I'll like it, too.

Bye bye, sand castle!
One day, GiGi, Mommy, Sean and I decided to take a break from the beach and went to the Tybee Island Marine Center.  It's pretty much like a little aquarium.  There are only 3 or 4 rooms, but we saw fish, turtles, alligators, crabs, and even a sea turtle named Ike!  It was so exciting, I just kept shrieking and jumping up and down!

Another really fun thing to do at the beach house is play on the porch.  It has a big porch with lots of room to run around and be silly.  There were 2 pools set up on the porch, too, 1 for me and 1 for Sean.  I liked to get in Sean's pool sometimes, too.

On Friday morning, Mommy and Daddy left on an airplane to Mexico for a few days, and I got to stay with GiGi and Daideo in Savannah.  I missed them, but I had a lot of fun while they were gone!  We went to the beach some more, went to my baby cousin Will's 1st birthday party, and played at Gigi and Daideo's house in town.  I met a new friend, a purple dinosaur named Barney, and I got to eat lots of pasta, my favorite!  And the best part of all was that I got lots of extra time to play with Sean!

I think he was trying to be like me!

One day Sean and I were playing together in his room, and this is what GiGi and Daideo found when they came to check on us:

On Tuesday, 5 days after Mommy and Daddy left, GiGi and I drove up to Atlanta to a shopping mall, and guess who we met there?!  Mommy and Daddy!  They came back!  I was so happy to see them!  That meant vacation was over, though.  After grabbing a quick dinner, we got back in the car and drove alllllllll the way home.  I didn't go to sleep in the car again, so we had to stop pretty early in a hotel and drive a lot of the way the next day.  It was a really fun vacation, but I was happy to be home!

Our vacations are all over for this summer.  Now Mommy gets to keep very busy planning my 2nd and then Daddy's 30th birthday parties!  I can't wait!
