Baby's First Christmas!

Merry Christmas!
This week I celebrated my very first Christmas.  We spent Christmas at home this year because we went to Savannah to see Daddy's family for Thanksgiving, and then Mommy and Daddy said next year we'll switch.  First on Christmas Eve, we went to church at night time!  I got to wear a super pretty dress, and I had so much fun at the service!  There were a lot of other kids there, and some of them were even singing during the service.  Can't wait to sing like them at church when I get bigger!  After we got home, Nana and Papa, Great Grandpa and Grandma, and Aunt Meredith and Uncle Chris all came over for dinner, but I went to bed pretty soon after they got there cause I was tired out from all the excitement at church!

I woke up super early on Christmas morning at 5:30.  Guess I was just excited!  When we went downstairs, there were more presents by the Christmas tree, and the stocking that Nana made for me was full, too!  Santa brought me an exersaucer (that's this toy that you get to stand up in and it has lots of fun stuff to play with all around you).  I got to open presents from Daideo and GiGi, too.  They got me a swing I can use when it gets warmer outside, and GiGi made a special book all about my family.  I love it!  Mommy and Daddy opened some presents, too, and we spent the morning at home playing with our new stuff.

Then later in the afternoon after nap time, we went for a visit with Papa T's mommy, my Great Grandma Marcia, and then headed to Nana and Papa's for the night.  Guess what?!  Santa came to see me at Nana and Papa's house, too!  My stocking was full again, and I got this awesome piano play gym that I love!  I can lay on it and kick the piano with my feet so it plays music, and there are toys over my head for me to grab and play with, and it even has a mirror so I can check myself out the whole time!  It's my favorite new toy so far!

After presents, Papa T read a story called The Polar Express.  It's a really good story about a little boy who gets to go the North Pole to meet Santa on Christmas Eve.  It's a tradition in my family for Papa to read it every year.  It was a great first Christmas, and I can't wait to do it again next year!

Four Month Update

Four months old on 12/22/12
Yesterday I turned 4 months old!  It was also Killion family Christmas day (that's my Nana's family), so I got to go to a big party and celebrate with a whole bunch of family.  Some of them were even more family that I hadn't met before.  It was super fun!  Can't wait until I'm big enough to run around and get into trouble like my cousins Knox and Riplee, who I got to meet there!

Four Month Stats
Weight: 15 lbs 5 oz (88th percentile)
Length: 25 3/4 in (96th percentile)
Head size: 17 in
Clothes size: 3-6 months
Diaper size: 2
Eye color: gray/blue with yellow centers

Four Month Habits
Eating: 5-6 oz bottle of breastmilk every 3-4 hours during the day, plus 1 tablespoon of rice cereal mixed with 1 oz milk in the morning and evening (I just started that this week!)

Sleeping:
Night-time - I was sleeping 8pm-5am through the night about a month ago, but I decided I missed Mommy and Daddy too much, so now I go to bed around 7-7:30 and wake up once or twice a night before getting up for the day around 7am.
Naps - I usually take 3 naps a day, around 9am, 12-1pm, and 3-4pm.  Sometimes they are 45 min and sometimes 2 hours, depending on the day.  I'm getting better at taking a longer nap in the morning.

Play/skills:  I'm trying really hard to learn how to roll from my back to my tummy, but I haven't quite gotten it yet.  I also like to sit up in my Bumbo seat for a little while, but I like it better when Mommy and Daddy help me sit up by myself.  I can grab at toys by myself and hold them if you help put them in my hands, and yesterday I even picked up a rattle all by myself for the first time!  I love to have books read to me now, especially books that rhyme and have bright colors.  My favorites are Brown Bear, Brown Bear and Baby Colors, and I've also been reading The Night Before Christmas a lot lately!

Check out this video of me eating my first bowl of cereal the other day!  I wasn't a big fan at first, but I'm getting used to it now!

Meeting the Man in Red

Sitting on Santa's lap for the first time!
So I've been hearing a lot lately about this guy named Santa Claus.  It started a few weeks ago when Nana brought me a new book to read (I LOVE having books read to me already!).  The book is called The Night Before Christmas, and it's about Santa.  He lives at the North Pole, but on December 24th every year, he loads up a sleigh full of toys and other goodies, and with the help of his 9 reindeer (those are sort of like my doggy but bigger and with antlers on their heads) flies to every little kid's house in the whole world to deliver them.  At least, if you've been good he delivers them.
Reading Twas the Night Before Christmas with Nana
Anyway, it's a really good book, and after reading it for the first time, Nana and Mommy took me to meet Santa Clause!  I got to sit on his lap for a few minutes, and I was calm and happy the whole time.  Next year maybe I'll be able to tell him what I want for Christmas, but this year Mommy and Daddy told him for me.  :)  I'm excited to see what he brings me next week!
Nana made me my very own Christmas stocking!
On my Christmas stocking that Nana made for me, there's a picture of a baby with his mommy and daddy and some other visitors.  That's because we actually celebrate Christmas because it's the birthday of this other guy named Jesus.  I've been to church with Mommy and Daddy a few times, and I've heard my Aunt Hilary singing a song to me about how Jesus loves me, so I know a little bit about him already.  I can't wait to learn more about him when I'm older.  He sounds like a pretty cool dude!

Turkey Day in Savannah

Happy Thanksgiving!
A couple of weeks ago, I went on my first big road trip to Savannah, GA.  That's where most of Daddy's family lives.  We went for Thanksgiving, which is this big holiday where basically everyone eats a lot of food.  I think it will be more fun for me next year when I get to try some turkey, too!  I got to see Aunt Ninners, Uncle Sean, GiGi, and Daideo again.  That's what I've decided to call my Savannah grandpa, pronounced Da-doe.  It's Gaelic for grandfather.  I also got to meet a whole bunch of other Hussey family!

We drove all night to get there, and I did great in the car!  I slept in my car seat almost all the way there and only woke up when Mommy and Daddy stopped to get gas and for a little while in the morning when we were almost there.  We got there on Wednesday morning and spent the day hanging out with Matey and Great-Grandaddy.  Then on Wednesday night, we had a special dinner to celebrate Aunt Ninner's birthday!

Great-Grandaddy is so funny!

Thursday was Thanksgiving, and we went to Daddy's uncle Tom's house with the whole Hussey clan.  I saw some family that I had already met before, like the Nalls and Uncle Michael and Aunt Joanie, but I also met a whole bunch of new people, including my cousin Ryleigh who is my size!

On Friday we went and hung out at the family beach house and I saw Tybee for the first time.  It was windy, but pretty!  Can't wait to see it again next summer when I can play in the water!

Then on Saturday Mommy, GiGi, Matey, and Sean and I went to the Westin on River Street in Savannah to see a bunch of Gingerbread houses that they have on display for Christmas.  It was super fun!
Sean really liked the Gingerbread Candyland

It was a really fun trip!  Mommy and Daddy said I did a great job with all the new people and excitement.  I was so tired from it all that the night after we got home I went down for a nap at 5:40 and slept all the way until 5 the next morning.  This Hussey family is fun but exhausting!  Guess I better get used to it!

Three Month Update

Three months old on 11/22/12, Thanksgiving Day!
Last week on Thanksgiving Day I turned 3 months old!  We were in Savannah, Georgia where Daddy's family lives, but more on that to come in a later post!  It's been a super fun month.  I've been busy learning lots of new things!

Three Month Stats
Clothes size: mostly size 3-6 months
Weight and length haven't been measured since I went to my 2-month check-up, but I'm definitely a growing girl!
Diaper size: 2
Hair color: Still dark brown, but getting a little bit lighter

Three Month Habits
Eating: I like to have a 5 oz bottle or nurse with Mommy about every 2.5-3 hours during the day, usually 5-6 feedings/day.

Sleeping: I'm sleeping through the night!  I go to bed at 7:30 or 8 and usually sleep until 5-5:30, when I get up to nurse with Mommy and then go back to sleep until about 7.  I'm still not very consistent at naps, though.  Some days I take a 2 hour nap in the morning and then another 2 hour nap in the afternoon, and maybe a quick 30 minute nap in the evening, and those are really good, happy days!  Other days I take 4 short 45 minute-1 hour naps, though.  Mommy and Daddy call me a fussy Hussey on those days.  Sleeping is hard work, but I'm getting it!  One day last week I was so tired after we got home from Savannah that I went down for a nap at 5:40 in the evening when Nana was babysitting me and slept all the way through the night until 5am!  I was super tired!

Play/skills:  I'm now really good at rolling over from my tummy to my back.  So good, actually, that Mommy has to work hard to keep me entertained on my tummy so I'll stay there instead of just rolling back over!  My favorite place to do tummy time is on the exercise ball.  I like to play with lots of new toys, now, especially my play gym on the floor.  It has little animals dangling from it that I can bat and try to grab.  I'm really good at batting at toys and I'm starting to try to grab them when I can figure out how to open and close my hand.  I also love to smile now and sometimes will even giggle a little bit.  I love to talk and coo all the time, and I've recently discovered my reflection in the mirror, which is so totally amazing!

Trick or Treat!

Ok, so this posting is a couple of weeks late.  November has been pretty busy for my family, so I haven't gotten around to writing about my first Halloween yet!  When we went to Atlanta, we saw my parents' good friend Evan.  He's a photographer, so he took some pictures of my family and some pictures of me in my Halloween costume.  For Halloween this year I was....
AN OWL!
I know, you're really surprised.  I have an owl nursery, owl blankets, and now an owl costume for Halloween.  Mommy made my costume, and it was really comfy!

Close up shot of my hat
I call this the shrieking owl :)
On Halloween night, I put on my costume again and helped Mommy and Daddy answer the door and handout candy to trick-or-treaters.  Those are kids who dress up in costumes and walk around the neighborhood and get free candy.  They don't even have to actually do any tricks!  I can't wait until I'm big enough to go.  I think I'm going to like candy!!!
When can I eat this stuff???

My First Plane Ride

Last weekend I got to go on my first big trip!  Mommy and Daddy's friends Emily and Jonathan were getting married in Atlanta.  I got to go on a plane ride for the very first time, and I did great!  Both times, on the way there and back, I fell asleep right before we got on the plane and then woke up and stayed calm while we were landing.  It was a strange place to wake up, but it was kind of exciting, too!

Awake at landing time.  "Where are we, Daddy?"
When we got to Atlanta, GiGi was there at the airport to pick us up, and so was my other grandpa (we call him Big Daddy), and my uncle Sean!  It was so fun to finally meet them!

We got to Atlanta on Thursday night and drove to a place called Alpharetta, which is close to Atlanta, where Daddy's cousins the Nalls live.  Then Friday morning, Mommy and GiGi and I went to something called a bridal luncheon for the wedding.  Mommy was a bridesmaid (those are the people who wear fancy dresses and stand at the front of the church with the bride and groom).  At the luncheon, I got to meet all of Mommy's friends from PT school.

On Friday night and Saturday Mommy and Daddy were really busy with wedding stuff (apparently there's more to it than just a 45 minute ceremony!).  Daddy and I got to go with Mommy for a while on Saturday while she was getting ready with the other girls and taking pictures, and the rest of the time I stayed in Alpharetta at the Nalls with GiGi, Big Daddy, and the rest of the family.  My aunt Brennan even drove down from Athens for the weekend, so I got to meet her, too!

It was a really busy, but really fun weekend.  Mommy and Daddy thought that I did really well for my first time traveling.  It was a little bit tiring and made me a little grumpy a few times, but overall it was super fun.  I can't wait to travel again to go to Savannah to see the rest of the Hussey family for Thanksgiving!  Not exactly sure what that is, but I think it has something to do with a turkey?  I guess I'll find out soon!

In the Atlanta airport with Daddy, all ready to go home after a busy weekend!
