Two Month Update

Two months old on 10/22/12
This week I turned 2 months old!  Mommy and Daddy can hardly believe how fast I'm growing up and how much I've changed in the last month!

Two Month Stats
Weight: 12 lbs 15 oz (93rd percentile!)
Length: 23 in (74th percentile)
Eye color: Definitely changing to more of a gray-blue with yellow in the center.  Might be a green-eyed girl like Mommy!
Clothes size: 0-3 months

Two Month Habits
Eating:  I still like to eat a lot!  I nurse about every 3 hours (sometimes 4 if I'm sleeping) and usually take a 4 oz bottle for my last 2 feedings at dinner time and then at bed time.  That way I stay more awake to eat and fill myself up before bed and Mommy and Daddy know how much I'm getting.

Sleeping:  I go to bed around 8:30 and sleep for 5-6 hours until 1:30 or 2am, then get up to eat and go right back to sleep for another 3-4 hours until around 5-6am, get up to eat again, and usually go back to sleep until around 8am.  Lots of night time sleeping!  I'm not such a big fan of napping during the day lately, though.  I will sometimes take one, 2-hour nap in my swing in the morning, but I don't really like to nap for more than about 30-45 min at a time right now other than that, especially in my crib!  Cribs are for night time!  :P

Play/skills:  I am really good at holding my head up on my tummy now and can do it for a few minutes at a time while I look at a toy.  I still especially like to lay on my tummy with my arms propped on my Boppy pillow cause I can hold my head up for a really long time like that.  I even rolled over from my tummy to my back 5 times last week, but I think I forgot how to do it!  I still love my Baby Einstein music radio and will turn my head to follow the lights, and I can also hold a rattle and shake it for a minute or two if Mommy or Daddy puts it in my hand for me.  I can see colors now and like to look at bright toys instead of just black and white ones, and I love to look at people's faces, especially Mommy and Daddy!  I've started smiling at them a lot and making more and more coos and happy sounds.

My First Party: Sip N' See at Nana's

Last Saturday I had my very first party!  Nana threw a "Sip N' See" party at her house.  That's when all of Nana and some of Mommy's friends come over to sip some fruity drink and see ME!  It was super fun.  I was in a very happy mood and got to meet a lot of new people while I was getting passed around the group.  I didn't really mind because I was being held the whole time!

All dressed up for my big party.
Playing with Aunt Hilary before everyone else got there.
Sitting with my great grandma.  I was distracted because there was another really cool ceiling fan to look at.  Those things are amazing!
Mommy's friend Ashley's turn to hold me!  This was when I was literally being passed around the circle.
Snuggling and playing with Regie, my "grand-Godmother!"
I stayed awake for the whole party, and then I was so tired later that I slept for 6 hours in a row that night for the very first time!  Mommy and Daddy were really excited, but I'm not sure why...

Meet my Godparents!

So here's the thing.  Mommy and Daddy go to a Presbyterian church called Village.  Mommy grew up going to a Presbyterian church, but Daddy grew up going to a Catholic church.  After they got married, they went to lots of different churches, and when they lived in Atlanta they found an Episcopalian church that they really liked.  The services were a lot like the Catholic church, but girls got to be preachers and they were less strict, which Mommy liked.

When Mommy and Daddy moved back to Kansas City, they went to lots of Episcopalian churches, but they couldn't find one quite as good as the one they left in Atlanta.  They ended up trying Village Presbyterian because it's really close to where we live, and the pastor from Mommy's church growing up, Grace Covenant, was there helping out (even though he was supposed to be retired!).  They tried it, and they loved it!  They have really fun stuff to do for families and kids, which was important to Mommy and Daddy.  They decided to join even though it does not have very many of the Catholic traditions that Daddy was used to.

But, now that I'm born, one Catholic tradition Mommy and Daddy have decided to keep is choosing Godparents for me.

Meet Laura, my Godmother!
Meeting my Godmother for the first time when she came to visit last weekend.
I think I'm going to like her a lot!
Laura also grew up at Grace Covenant with Mommy, so they've known each other for a very long time!  Mommy, Laura, and their friends Sara and Leah were all in the youth group together in middle school and high school and are still very close, even though they've all moved away!  Laura lives in Portland.  She's getting married next year, so I will get to go visit!  Can't wait!  Laura also went to high school with Daddy.  Mommy says she's the best kind of friend a person could have.  She is caring, compassionate, and a very loyal friend.  No matter how far apart they've been since they graduated from high school and left home, her friendship with Mommy and Daddy has always been exactly the same.  Plus, she knows how to be silly and have fun!

Meet Shane, my Godfather!

Shane being silly and posing with me during my nap!  Mommy forgot to take a picture while he was holding me... silly Mommy!
Shane grew up at Grace Covenant, too, and lived right down the street from Mommy growing up.  His mommy is very close friends with my Nana!  Growing up, Shane and his brothers were sort of like brothers to Mommy and my aunties Hilary and Merf.  Shane was also a really close friend of Daddy's growing up.  They knew each other from boy scouts and Grace Covenant youth group, and Shane even got to be a groomsman for Daddy at their wedding.  Shane also lives in Portland now.  Mommy and Daddy say he can be very silly and I will have lots of fun with him, but he is also very sweet and genuine.

I can't wait to get to know them both better!  Mommy and Daddy seem to like them a lot, so I'm sure I will, too!

My Busy Weekend

Last weekend was a very busy weekend for me and my mommy and daddy!

First on Saturday, we went to a place called Louisburg Cider Mill where they have a pumpkin patch.  They were having a festival, so there were lots of people there, and there was also music and shopping booths and lots of apple cider.  I didn't get to try any yet, but Mommy and Daddy had some, along with some apple cider donuts.  They looked yummy!  Can't wait until I'm big enough to try big girl food!  We mostly just walked around and looked at the pumpkins, and I even got a little one to take home!

Posing in the pumpkin patch.  That pumpkin was chilly on my bottom!

With Mommy

Family shot
It was definitely chilly outside, but I was all snuggled up with Mommy in the Baby Bjorn carrier, (which is one of my new favorite things!), so I wasn't too cold!

Then on Sunday, my friend Shae had her 1st birthday party!  It was so fun!  There were other kids there, but I was the smallest.  I had fun watching them all run around.

Hanging out in the Bjorn again, this time with Daddy

Shae wasn't quite sure what to do with her smash cake at first...

...but she figured it out!  Can't wait until I turn 1 and get to make a big mess!

With Mommy and Shae and Shae's mommy, Amy.  Shae was trying to get my bow!  I guess it would look good with her outfit, too.  ;)

It was a very busy, very fun weekend.  So fun that I hardly wanted to sleep in case I might miss something!  ;)

Mommy says I have lots more busy weekends coming up, too, with some friends visiting, a party at Nana and Papa's to meet all their friends, and even a wedding in Atlanta, GA.  I'll get to go on my first plane ride for that!  Can't wait to tell you all about it!

New Friends

I turn 6 weeks old today, and I've already made some new friends!  Earlier this week, Mommy and I went with her friend Amy and Amy's daughter, Shae, to see another friend of theirs named Andrea from Mommy's work and meet her brand new baby boy, Caleb.  I mostly slept the whole time, but it was still fun.  :)

Me and Caleb.  Mommy couldn't believe how much bigger and older I seem compared to him already, even though we're only 1 month apart!
Close-up.  Caleb is so tall and skinny, and he has really big hands and feet!  Mommy and her friends say he's going to be a big boy like his Daddy.
Me with Shae

Shae is a very busy baby!  She'll be 1 whole year old next week!
Shae's mommy with Caleb.  She is having another baby in March, so soon I'll have another new friend and Amy will have a crazy busy house!
It was my first "play date," though it was really more like a nap date.  Can't wait to do it again!
