Bonjour, Butterfly!

Check it out!  I'm a butterfly!

A couple of weeks ago, I got to go to a butterfly festival with a real butterfly garden!  It was really exciting because I've been reading a book all about a butterfly garden.  It's called Fancy Nancy: Bonjour Butterfly.  I LOVE Fancy Nancy books right now.  Next week I'm even having a Fancy Nancy tea party for my birthday!  Don't worry, I'll tell you all about that afterwards!  The best part of the festival was that Fancy Nancy was there, too!  She came to read her book, Bonjour Butterfly!

The butterfly festival was at a place called Powell Gardens.  We've never been there before, and it was really pretty!  There's a big path to walk around and a great big lake, and there are lots of beautiful flowers and plants.  They even have a special exhibit right now with plant and animal sculptures made out of Legos.  It was really cool!  Aunt Hilary and Uncle Jake and James came with us, too.

For the festival they had a special room with beautiful tropical plants and all different kinds of butterflies.  We had so much fun trying to spot all the different colors.  I wore my wings so I could be like a butterfly, too!

They also had another special tent just for monarch butterflies.  Those are the orange and black ones.  Inside the tent there were lots of bushes and butterflies, and there were also games.  You could even touch a caterpillar if you wanted to, but I just wanted to look.  Did you know that caterpillars become butterflies?  They wrap themselves all up in something called a cocoon and go to sleep, and then when they come out, they're beautiful butterflies!  Outside the monarch tent you could get your picture taken pretending to be a butterfly or a caterpillar.  We all took turns.  It was very silly!

After the Monarch tent, we were really hot and hungry for a snack, so we stopped in the ice cream tent for some delicious homemade ice cream.  I got my favorite, strawberry!  I love it because it's pink!

He still had fun, though.

It was really hot, but super fun!  I hope we can go again next year!
